Jon at Restrap has asked me to write this , an intro into what FURTHER is. For me, as the creator of FURTHER, I try to resist this. I have an inherent struggle with definition and being defined. I look for experimentation and change in my life, in everything I do. I wish FURTHER to be a 'place' where like minded people converge.

Let me tell you a little story .

When I was a kid, I loved bike racing more than anything. It was my everything. One winter on a training camp with a Professional team I had the conversation with an older pro. I had no problem with the Metier ( it was the 1980's ) but what I did have a problem with was the uniform. I had the life described to me, the routine, the rules ( spoken and unspoken ) and I kept coming back to the uniform.

A few things converged that season, notably my desire to win waned and my disgust at banality grew. After winning some chipper in some village somewhere, feeling nothing, I vowed to never wear a uniform again.

After racing I moved to London, went to Art school, learnt that most people wear a uniform, whether that be a suit in the city or Bleu travails in a creative agency. My inspiration became the outsiders, the people who looked like they just did not give a fuck, but actually gave everything. I liked the outsiders, I liked the loners and I still loved the bike.

FURTHER is an event that is about saying fuck the uniform. I am... I am doing this. I don't want a cap with a number on it, a card with stamps telling me where I have been. I don't want to look like a roadie in a saveloy skin suit, or in an unspeakable MTB uniform. I want to find my own way, find other humans, push myself out of my comfort zone and find new pastures. I guess you could say FURTHER is Punk, but not that British Sex Pistols bollocks, that was just marketing to make a fashion label and flog 7 inch records to kids. I know because I was that kid, my first Album at 10 was 'Never mind the Bollocks'

As I write this, Lee Hazlewood is playing a Cowboy in Sweden. I would like Lee Hazlewood to play tunes at FURTHER.

FUrther Journal is me Camille, the journey I take in making the Further events. I put words and images on the Further journal patreon Which is free to read ( but a beer or three would be nice ). I have also secured funding for the first phisical edition of the Journal, which i hope to bring out in the summer of 2024
